Implement HUD by display modification so that reflected display in the windshield with the phone flat on dash makes sense.

We’ve seen some mobile applications providing such functionality and it’s not too difficult to develop one ourselves.
However, from experience there are two problems with such HUDs:
1. The phone can’t stay steady on the dashboard so you need some sort of additional holder to keep it in place
2. The reflection in the windshield is really difficult to see.
Have you used any such application which proved to provide good user experience?
